Yesterday afternoon I left Burbank and headed for the gorgeous and winding hills of Hollywood, to make a long awaited visit to Chateau Spelvin….which is my little nickname for the quaint Los Angeles home of Gerogina Spelvin, one of the most well known adult actresses of all time. I was absolutely star struck as we were greeted by her tiny frame at the front door. I was so excited. She welcomed us into her home, me and my crew, with open arms, she gave us a tour of her wonderful stone garden, which was overflowing with Jade and wild clovers. This would have been optimal to do a video interview, but it was a bit chilly for all of us, so we decided to set up in her living room.

The amount of information that Georgina shared with me was stunning and overwhelming. She told me about her early days on Broadway, about how she got into porn( thanks Marc Stevens), how she dominated in her tenure in the biz and so much more. We spoke about so many guys and gals of yesteryear, and it was an absolutely awesome event. She still looks stunning!

Her husband was around and also shared some great stories, all in all, I am thrilled and want to thank Georgina, for being an open book and making me feel comfortable and welcomed. And of course, the crew of crews, Elijah and Elle!! You guys are the real deal!

An Afternoon with a legend..Eric Edwards

Yesterday morning, I headed north of LA, about 75 miles, to visit and spend some time with veteran adult performer, Eric Edwards. The drive was gorgeous and once we got into the mountains, the sky became so clear, and the air, WOW, it was like pure oxygen.

When I arrived, I was greeted by the familiar face that was still so recognizable. We had the greatest day, talking about the days of yesteryear, and had some wonderful moments. After a few hours, we headed into his gorgeous, and most picturesque, country town for a hearty lunch of burgers and clubs.

After lunch we played, “name that porn star”, and it was amazing, just to be able to jar some of the cobwebs from his brain, was an entertaining experience. He is one of the sweetest guys, I have ever met. He open up to me about his past personal life, which in many ways, is full of tragedy. But, with all the hardships considered, like a tough battle with cancer and financial instability, Eric is still doing well. He looks great, still very handsome and he sounds the same to me!

Before I returned to the city , we headed into the mountains and shot some great additional footage!! One of the best days in a long time. I can’t wait to come back here.

And by the way, a huge shout out to my DP and producer….Elijah and Elle!! 2 great people, very talented, with amazing futures ahead of them. I was so honored to have you guys with me yesterday. You guys have great skills and great minds. Thanks so much for everything!!

Armand Weston’s Take Off

One of our favorite films from the golden age of filmmaking. This one has it all! We have hundreds of slides from this film. The production stills were shot by legendary director, Larry Revene and the assortment and quality are both spectacular. Eventually, our entire archive will be commemorated with a very large and colorful book, which will encapsulate the entire Distribpix archive, and how 2 NY guys, took a chance producing some cheap sexploitation films in the 60′s and how they morphed it into an East Coast video legacy. But in the meantime, enjoy these never before seen slides, just scanned yesterday!!

MILL VALLEY, Calif.—John Leslie, award-winning director and AVN Hall of Fame performer, passed away yesterday of an apparent massive heart attack at his home at the age of 65. He was discovered by his wife of 23 years, Kathleen, when she returned from grocery shopping.

His close friend Joey Silvera, who had been travelling to New York on business, returned to Northern California to be with Kathleen.

“It is with regret that the Evil Angel family announces the passing of John Leslie,” said Christian Mann, general manager of Evil Angel. “This is very shocking, sad and unexpected news. Everyone in the Evil Angel family is deeply saddened and our thoughts are with Kathleen at this difficult time.”

 

FROM THE VAULT-SOME ORIGINAL XXX THEATER FLAGS

For the past 5 years we have been slowly moving our archives from various locations in order to bring them all together. Since July we have moved 6 truckloads of “golden age elements”, out of NYC, Queens and NJ. We transported the remaining 12 pallets of original elements that remained in our NYC location, this past Monday. The only material that is still in storage are theatrical prints. The majority of the material from this last move was OCN trims and out takes, lots of sound tapes,M/E, Mag track, hundreds of trailers, radio spots, 6 crates of miscellaneous 16 mm X rated reels, and assorted ephemera, as well as some very kool mainstream material. It has been so overwhelming, and the cleaning of these old boxes, some which have been collecting dust for 30 plus years, is nasty. It is long, hard work , with lots of sneezing from the dust, etc. But in the end it is all worth it. We have saved an archive from being destroyed and separated. The work we have done over the summer has truly brought all of the elements of this 40 year legacy, into one space……and it is amazing. With all that said, I found something today that I thought was certainly worth sharing, as this stuff does not come along everyday……I was getting ready to call it quits for the day, after killing myself all week to get this stuff put away and cleaned, as space is a premium, and it is hard to work with pallets towering around you, Just as I was ready to remove the shrink wrap from the last pallet, I saw a large cardboard box that was marked MATURE FLAGS with red marker. I stopped what I was doing and anxiously pulled the box from the pallet. Off the top of my head, I figured it was a flag that used to hang off the exterior of the MATURE PICTURES BUILDING in NYC………Right??? Well, I had to confirm my thoughts and I dove right in. I used my razor like a surgeon and very cautiously sliced the packing tape that held together the bloated box, as to not damage the cloth inside. At first it just looked like a huge tarp was thrown in a box, but after closer inspection, I realized that I had discovered a real piece of Times Square….. I was so very surprised and excited to make the discovery of 3 original theatrical banner flags, that were actually used! They originally belonged to Sam Lake, as he was a huge theatrical distributor, back in the day. Needless to say, in the early 80′s, Distribpix acquired the entire Sam Lake Enterprises collection and everything was saved, nothing was ever thrown away. Lots of stuff that one might never use, but it is all worth preserving. Enjoy!

The first flag is Radley Metzger’s NAKED CAME THE STRANGER, it measures approximately 8 feet x 10 feet. I felt the immediate urge to temporarily mount it to the ceiling of our warehouse, to see how it looked, as well as to let it air out.

The second flag is from Armond Weston’s, “Expose Me Lovely”. It measures about the same and it is also temporarily hanging.

The third is  from Claude Mulot’s Pussy Talk, the cabinet is in the way, but you can get the idea!!
