The Nesting on Blu Ray and DVD!!

Really well done job by Blue Underground and Distribix. The film itself is just one of those films that you seem to miss, and never see. And to be honest, your not missing much, with the plethora of films out there. But the film looks amazing, The HD transfer is clean and crisp, and puts all the other, bootlegged versions , that are sourced from print or video masters to shame. The job in restoring the film was done in ‘William Lustig’ fashion, which usually means, top notch, all the way. Only one or two jumps, but other than that, she looks super. There are lots of extras, as far as slides, trailers, tv spots and multiple language tracks, as well as additional sound options. Also some famous names, worth getting. Some memorable scenes are the lake scene, which is part of the menu loop, and of course, who can forget a sickle to the face, OUCH! Armand Weston deserves credit for taking a chance!

Bill Lustig’s Annual Film Festival at Anthology

10 Days of action, Brit underworld, Bad NYC Cops, spaghetti westerns, heists, suspense, car chases – cool genre films during hot summer nights! Most unavailable on DVD, many never been available on ANY home video format! Also, I’m working on surprise guests and talent Q&As!

Since the studios have started their burn-on-demand DVD lines, finding obscure, overlooked films will become more difficult. So, we look forward to you and your friends joining us in what might be the final year of this kind of programming. I promise, it’s going to be fun!

Distribpix/Blue Underground,Team-Up for Horror Re-release

Distribix is pleased to announce that Bill Lustig’s , Blue Underground, will be releasing, this Armand Weston horror film from 1980. The film has been beautifully re-stored  from the OCN and both picture and sound are excellent. There will be extras like trailers, tv spots, subtitles, ephemera, slideshows, and more. Blue Underground is one of the top tier DVD companies on the market today and they focus on quality and are well known for successfully releasing  many cult films onto Blu Ray and DVD.

Besides owning many of the best XXX adult films and sexploitation films, Distribpix also has some unique exploitation gems in the archive, so this is a great opportunity for us to align our more mainstream films from our archive with the high standards of companies like,Blue Underground. This film has been in dire need of a proper release, and Blue Underground is the perfect company to do it. I have learned so much from Bill Lusting on this project, and it is great to work with someone who is so professional and hands on!

THE EARLY FILMS OF BILL LUSTIG

Most of the films fans out there know of Bill Lustig as one of the more prolific cult/horror filmmakers of the late 70′s and early 80′s. Some of his more well know films are Maniac Cop and Vigilante, and they both are legendary cult classics. Today Bill is the owner of one of the most cutting edge re-releasing companies, Blue Underground. He is totally committed to quality, integrity and is a really great guy. I have gotten to know more about Bill, and we got  to spend some great time over this past summer. He is one of the most interesting guys I have ever met.

But before Bill, became a famous director, he began his career in a way that is quite common for most young independent film makers, but it is still a bit surprising and very interesting. In the 70′s, as Bill was starting his career, he directed two porno films, both were quite successful theatrically and still sell to this day, very well on DVD. They were known as the films of” Billy Bagg”(we learn why in the commentary).These 2 films payed in dozens of theaters across the country and made a lot of money at the World Theatre in NYC, as well as the Pussycat adn even at the Ofarell’s Screening Room in San Francisco.

The 2 films are ‘Hot Honey’ with Heather Young, Jack Hammer and Robin Byrd and ‘The Violation of Claudia’ with Sharon Mitchell, Jamie Gillis and Serena.

As part of a tribute, to the only 2 adult films of Bill Lustig’s career we are preparing to release a double feature of these films, so this past Saturday Bill was gracious enough to meet us at a Sound Studio in Burbank, in order to record a full length commentary for each film. In addition, Bill brought one of his friends who thought it would be an interesting commentary. He brought Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn, who is one of the hottest up and coming directors today and has directed films like ‘Bronson’ , ‘The Pusher Trilogies’ and ‘Valhalla Rising’.

The content of the commentaries are simply amazing, The stories that Bill has to tell are absolutely amazing and Nic’s insight was remarkable. This is going to be a great release and any fan of Bill Lusting, should have this.
